Note to self...

...when a student is aiming to run out of the classroom, DO NOT BLOCK THEIR WAY. Did that today and ended getting punched in the stomach and kicked on the shin. Then while dragging him towards the office, kid tried to bite me TWICE. Kid's grandma works at the school. So, after I tell her what happened and what he did, her response was, "SOOOOO SORRY! I'll have him apologize tomorrow. It's from the weekend. The anger's been building up since Friday." It comes out that he can't go on our end-of-the-year field trip because I wrote that he needed an adult to come with him if we go bowling. When one of the other 2nd grade teachers asked why he couldn't go on the field trip, grandma turns around and says, "She can't handle him." She meaning ME. Requiring adult accompaniment for an ADHD child on a field trip with 80 other students was not much to ask. I have one set of eyes and ears. I hate that she turned around and made it my fault that he was upset.

Sounds like gma can't handle the kid either. Maybe that's why he has such anger issues. So sorry, Vera. Keep your head up. You're a great teacher! Family members always need someone else to blame for their child's behavior...
