We waited outside for the ice cream truck to come around. The boys were ready with their dollars. We got chased into the house by the neighbor's burning trash. The ice cream truck finally came around after 6...the yen for ice cream was GONE.

I'm a little too dependent on my cable modem and wireless router. When the cable goes out, sometimes the internet goes out as well. Then I don't know what to do with myself at 8:00 at night.

THERE! I've officially taken a photo a day this month! I hope to continue to chronicle my life in pictures for the next 334. Working on a mini album of January photos. Stay tuned!

catching up with 365

24/365

When we came back from our Arizona vacation, we discovered that someone had taken off ALL our typhoon shutters, including the ones on the bedroom windows. GRRR. We leave those on 365/24/7. Sure, it makes for a dark room but who wouldn't love that when trying to take an afternoon nap? I have this great fear of climbing OFF a ladder. Yes, OFF. I've fallen off ladders because my knees have locked trying to get off. The bedroom windows are a little higher off the ground than the living and dining room ones. So the shutters stay on. ON this island, you never know when a typhoon might hit. But, Mark was asked to take them off and that he did. It's 2 1/2 years since they've been off so it's a rare thing for me to open my bedroom window and see the sun shining outside.

It was time for some new bed pillows. When I took the old ones out, I put it against a new one. When it takes 2 pillows to be the same size as a new one, it's time to discard! Good thing they were on sale 2/$5.99!

finishing up that kit!

I first brought you the details of using up a kit in this post, which was preceded by the first LO in this post. Along came the challenge at THE BASB and this layout. Fast forward to today and I bring you the following:

IMG_0552

It goes with G's Grey challenge at Studio Calico. I'm having trouble uploading there. I think my file is too big... I actually used packaging from the chatterbox felt sticky things as a piece of "paper".

Then I made these cards. Or was it one card then the LO then another card? I forgot already and it was just this morning.

IMG_0553
Completely generic, but ready at a moment's notice for some occasion.

IMG_0555
Birthday card ready for someone... I know I have a birthday on my calendar some time soon.

This kit is not quite done...still have some parts leftover, but *I* am finished with it...for now. Love that black sheet of paper for something...what it is, I have no idea. Yet.

Someone in the neighborhood is burning...have to go "investigate" if anyone called the fire department. Guess I won't be washing and hanging my bedding today. Bummer.

A layout for today.

almost too funny for words

I printed off a few sketches from got sketch? so I could do some layouts this weekend. Sketch 72 caught my eye so I worked it to fit what I had in mind!

The ice cream truck came around this evening. No time to grab anything but some cash! Lucas and Jacob just got home with their mom. I ran down to the front of Auntie Marie's house. The music has been driving me NUTS for the last few weeks! Imagine hearing the tune and not seeing it anywhere. I have an ice cream sandwich sitting in the freezer...tomorrow. YUM! Mom already ate hers!

A challenge layout

There's a new challenge at THE BASB! Create a layout using ONE piece of patterned paper. No cardstock. {Insert bug-eyed smiley here} It was quite a challenge! Here's my take on it:

duck, duck, goose.

Used more of the December kit from Scarlet Lime. Lucas wanted to play a game that he was "in charge of" on New Year's Day. So his parents and the rest of the kids played "Duck, duck, goose" with him. It was quite hilarious!

Using a kit and more project 365

I have scrapbook kits coming out of my ears. Not really, but it sure feels like that. I decided to pick one kit and use it this weekend after reading this post at Willow Traders. So far, I have 3 layouts and 2 cards made and I still have a bag full of stuff. The first layout can be seen in this post.

Here's #2:

GASP! Allie is the MVP of the IIAG all-island team. Would have never known if I hadn't read the sports page of the paper. So like Allie not to say anything...just like when she won the school-wide Spelling bee. Sigh...

The children's waiting area at the Toyota service department looks more inviting than the adults' section. Where's the fairness in that? Should have bought the Lexus for the massaging chairs.

Finally...a moment to scrap!

I left work early today for a doctor's appointment. Holiday indulgences were not kind to me, but then again, I knew that would happen. Eating out for EVERY meal for 11 days is not for the faint of heart. Must get back to healthy eating. Overall, the news was good. The doctor wasn't too concerned about the weight gain. On the plus side, it might also be due to the weight training I've been doing. Muscle weighs more than fat... sigh.... BUT......... I still came home with a prescription. I.have.an.ear.infection. No fever. No pain. No chills. Nothing. I've never had so many ear infections until I became an adult. After brief scans through my file, the doctor said, "Yes, you do have Eustachian tube dysfunction." Asymptomatic. No cure. No surgery for it. I don't fit the profile for any corrective procedures since I'm freakin' old. Lovely. Two pills a day for five days. And get this, I can't have any dairy 1 hour before or 1 hour after I take the pill. This on a three-day-weekend. Perfect.

But, it's Friday. The day of the week where my creativity peaks! I got a moment to scrap and use my December 2008 Scarlet Lime kit.

1 night only

Continuing Project 365.....

We have idiot roosters on this island that crow at night, during the day, really any time but sunrise. It's not unheard of to have stray chickens around here.

16/365
16/365

My $5 brown purse that I bought in the Philippines in 2007. I can almost fit my Canon XSi in there. Maybe if I take off the lens.

I'm trying to find the best possible way to tote my XSi around with me without carrying the camera bag. Maybe I'll get one of these. I don't know what wrong with my little fuji "purse" point and shoot camera. From what I've read on-line, it might be a CCD sensor problem. I'm going to let it vegetate unused for a while and see what happens, but it's probably going to end up in camera heaven. One and a half years..... sigh.

Off to find some dinner. An omelet sounds good......

Even more project 365

11/365

11/365

"Joy to the World" meets "The Star-Spangled Banner" meets Baby blabber. Serious confusion. It was pretty funny to listen to all at the same time!

12/365

Driving...it's a necessary evil.

I got my January Studio Calico kit...the start of my sub there. I had ordered the Claudine Helmuth multi-medium matte gel. It was out of stock. No biggie. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and out came not one, but two paper bags. One was my kit. The other was the pictured goodies to "make up"for my out of stock item.....and I still got a refund on the gel medium. WOW!!

The birds aren't really in the picture. Had to cover up our address with digital bird stickers from "lhabis_kraftygirlfreebie". Got this letter holder at ROSS over the weekend. Love how it looks on the table for the mail. No more sticking mail into the napkin holder!!

LOs and more project 365

It's another layout for January's sketches by Shawn at The Scrapping Spot! I love these sketches. They save time so I can scrap fast! Thanks, Shawn! This was the first picture I chose for my project 365.

This layout is from a sketch coming up later in the month! These pictures were taken the day before we left Arizona. Lots of cacti around there...not enough greenery for me.

Project 365 continued....

5/265

My new coffee maker. It makes coffee FAST! Just the way I like it.

6/365

JB came for a surprise visit. See the joy and laughter is priceless.

7/365

My Saucony shoes. I used to swear by Reebok. Then I met New Balance. Followed by Adidas and Nike. They were all comfortable to a point. Then I met Saucony. These are the BEST fitting shoes I have ever worn to the gym. Pricey, but worth it!

8/365

My bed..."made". HA! I gazed longingly at my bed on the 8th afternoon of the year wanting to take a nap. Sleep did not come.

I live by my alarm clock from Monday through Friday. Sometimes I'd like to toss it to the wall...

Project 365

I'm going to try taking one picture a day this year. Hopefully, I'll have learned the ins and outs of my new camera!

1/365

Toria and Allie at our new year's family lunch.

2/365

Weeds or flowers? You choose. I just like how it looked when I took the picture with my 50mm lens!

3/365

It was a day for a new 'do. No planning involved. Just spontaneity.
