2012

Today is the first day of 2012. While we were eating lunch, Auntie Margaret asked me, "What are you feeling about the new year?" I said, "I hope it's a good one." She said, "I didn't ask what you hope, I want to know what you feel?"

I don't know what I feel about the new year. She's anxious about what's to come... Me? While I don't know what is ahead, I'm ready to let in the LIGHT.

LIGHT

That's my One Little Word for 2012. It may seem like a cop-out to use Ali's word from 2011. But, that's a word that kept coming to me.
Light is...
  • something that makes things visible or affords illumination: All colors depend on light.
  • Also called luminous energy, radiant energy.
  • an illuminating agent or source, as the sun, a lamp, or a beacon.
  • the radiance or illumination from a particular source: the light of a candle.
For me, light also means letting in, being open, sharing burdens, losing weight. It means letting go, welcoming, accepting.

Last year's word...possibilities... EPIC FAIL. While my heart had the right intentions, I don't think my head was truly ready to let potential life changing events happen. 2011 was the year of spending time with different people, not quite new, but not quite ones I've spent countless hours with. Interacting with different people this past year has led me to being more ready to depend on others...lightening that load.

Here's to hoping that lots of light shines through for me.

Happy New Year!
